IT’S BEEN KIND OF A MAINSTAY THERE FOR SEVERAL DECADES. DOWN IN KNOXVILLE THIS WEEKEND, WHETHER YOU’RE HEADING FOR A PATIO OR THE BALLOON CLASSIC OR RAGBRAI, WHATEVER IS GOING ON, YOU HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION TO THAT HEAT AND HUMIDITY. YOU DO, YOU DO. I MEAN, THIS TIME OF YEAR, EVERYONE REALLY EXPECTS IT. AND THAT’S WHAT WE HAVE FOR THIS UPCOMING WEEKEND. NO SUBSTANTIAL BREAK IN SIGHT EITHER. SO GET USED TO IT. IT’S GOING TO BE IN THE 90S, JUST BARELY. BUT FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, BOTH HOT AND HUMID. SOME NIGHT STORMS. SO OVERNIGHT GOING SUNDAY INTO MONDAY ALSO EXPECTED, YOU CAN EXPECT MORE SUNSHINE THROUGHOUT SATURDAY, BOTH GOOD COOL DAYS AHEAD AS FAR AS THE SATELLITE AND RADAR. MAINLY GOING TO BE LOOKING TO THE SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST WHERE WE’RE SEEING THE BUK OF THE ACTIVITY IN APPANOOSE COUNTY NOW BUILDING INTO MONROE ALONG THE APPANOOSE MONROE COUNTY LINE SOUTH OF ALBIA IS WHERE WE’RE SEEING MOST OF THAT ACTIVITY SOUTH OF 34 AS WELL. FURTHER OFF TO THE EAST IN DAVIS COUNTY. STILL GOING TO BE SOME PRETTY ISOLATED STUFF, BUT NOW DRIFTING FURTHER NORTH. THESE ONES THAT ARE GETTING CLOSER TO I-35 IN JUST NORTH OF LIKE IN JASPER COUNTY, REALLY DIMINISHING, RAINING ITSELF OUT, NOTHING REALLY SUPPORTING THOSE TYPES OF SHOWERS. SO WE’RE NOT LOOKING AT A LOT OF ACTIVITY FOR CENTRAL IOWA, NOT EXPECTING MUCH. EVEN SO, BEYOND THE MORNING STATEWIDE, WE’RE NOT GOING TO SEE ANY TYPE OF RAIN CHANCE AS WE START TO CLEAR UP THE CLOUDS THROUGHOUT THE MORNING. THE AFTERNOON, EXPECT MORE SUNSHINE, CHANCES. NOT A GREAT CHANCE FOR RAINFALL, BUT THOSE SOUTHERLY WINDS, THAT’S WHAT’S GOING TO GIVE US THE HEAT CLIMB AND ALSO THAT MOISTURE STAYING OVER US. WE NEED TO HAVE THOSE NORTHERLY WINDS TO DROP THAT HUMIDITY. NOTICE WE’RE NOT GOING TO SEE ANY OF THAT GOING INTO THE NEXT 48 HOURS. AS WE EXTEND INTO THE OVERNIGHT GOING INTO SATURDAY, IT’S DRY. WE’RE NOT GOING TO SEE ANY CHANCE OF RAINFALL THROUGHOUT SATURDAY MORNING. NOW SATURDAY AFTERNOON BUILDING IN THE CLOUD COVER. AND THAT’S GOING TO BRING ANOTHER CHANCE FOR SOME OF THESE SHOWERS, MAINLY EAST OF I 35 EASTERN IOWA. REALLY THE BETTER CHANCE FOR THOSE SHOWERS AND ISOLATED STORMS AS WE GET INTO VERY EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. BUT MORE OF THE CLOUDS OVER US THROUGHOUT SUNDAY. NOT GOING TO HAVE TOO MUCH OF THAT SUN, ESPECIALLY THROUGHOUT THE MORNING, GETS EATEN AWAY AS WE GET INTO SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND THEN THOSE RAIN CHANCES AGAIN, STARTING OFF MORE SO TO THE EAST AND NORTHEAST AS WE GO INTO MONDAY. BUT A BETTER CHANCE GOING SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY. BETTER CHANCES FOR THOSE SHOWERS AND STORMS STICKING BACK WITH US, ESPECIALLY LATER NEXT WEEK. BUT AS FAR AS THE HEAT INDEX FOR TODAY, THIS IS WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING AT. THIS IS WHY YOU WANT TO HAVE THE WATER. YOU WANT TO TAKE BREAKS. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY MID TO UPPER 90S ALONG AND WEST OF I 35. FURTHER EAST, A TOUCH COOLER BUT STILL GOING TO BE FEELING THAT HUMIDITY. AND THEN FOR TOMORROW A LOT OF THE SAME FEELING LIKE THE 90S YET AGAIN SATURDAY AND DEEPER IN THE 90S ON SUNDAY NEXT WEEK. STILL DEALING WITH A LOT MORE OF THAT HEAT AND HUMIDITY AS WELL. WEDNESDAY THE HOTTEST DAY IN THE NEXT EIGHT. RAIN CHANCES RETUR

There are some addition pop up isolated showers and storms this morning that will wrap up through the morning hours. Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts The slow moving boundary that we have been talking about over the past few days is still close enough to trigger some of these showers as the warm air approaches. The main impact will be the heat across the state. Highs will climb to upper 80s and low 90s with heat index values well into the 90s. There will be a light breeze for the weekend from the S/SE which will be nice compared to some of the more stagnant air we have been seeing lately. Rain chances will return Sunday night and into Monday. There is a low chance for severe weather with this round as highs stay in the 90s for a good portion of next week. Feel like temps will be the highest for Tuesday and Wednesday with values around and exceeding 100 at times. The more interesting storm set up will be Wednesday evening through Thursday timeframe. There will be a chance for sever weather in the Midwest, but the exact location is still in question with divergence in the long term weather models. This could be another strong wind storm complex, which is why we will be continuing to monitor the model evolution over the coming days. Iowa weather forecastToday: Mix of sun and clouds. High near 88F. Winds SSE at 6 to 12 mph. Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low around 70F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.Tomorrow: Mostly Sunny. High 90F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph.Tomorrow Night: Partly cloudy. Low 71F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.
